Braves Game & Matthew West Concert

Matthew West 2009We have an exciting outing coming up soon that we hope everyone will go to. We will be going to see a Brave game and immediately following will be a Matthew West Concert. We will leave the church immediately following service to see the Braves play the Cincinnati Reds. We will be sitting field level, so the seats will be amazing for both the game and the concert. Right after the game will be the Matthew West concert. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Matthew West, he is a Contemporary Christian artist who faced a huge trial in his music career May 17, 2007. That day he underwent vocal surgery. After the surgery he was faced a season of silence and uncertainty. But, God has healed him and brought him out of this trial in his life and helped him in his weakest moment.

The price for tickets is $24. This includes travel to Atlanta and admission to the game and the concert. Food is not included, so bring money for that. We will be leaving right after morning service on September 6.  If you dont’ attend church here, then make sure you are here by 11:30AM or you could be left. We should be back to church sometime between 7 and 8 that night. See Pastor Gabe if you are interested in going. We need your money by Thursday, September 3.

Pastor Matt Going Away Prank

For those of you that are unaware or haven’t heard yet, Pastor Matt has decided to leave us and pursue an advanced degree in Seminary. We are all very excited and happy for him, and can’t wait to see how he is blessed during this time in his life. This is something that has been on his Heart for a long time and he is very excited about it. He will be returning to school to pursue a Master’s in Divinity, which is a stepping stone towards his goal of one day being a college professor.

With all of that being said, we realized  that we couldn’t let him leave without a final prank. And the more we thought about it, we realized he hasn’t been pranked at all since he has been here, so this would have to be really good. So, several of us (and when I say us, I may or may not have been involved…even though I am in the pictures, think photoshop) decided to get together to leave him a present in his office. That present amounted to about 2,800 sticky notes on the wall, several hunder ballons on the floor and floating on the ceiling, saran wrap around bookshelves and chairs, and his keyboard modified to be in alphabetical order. Let’s just say everyone had a good laugh when they got into the office that day. Check out the pictures below, and then the P. Matt Prank Album on our site for more.

Oh, and you know that you can’t let students get a way with this sort of behaivor, so check out how we got back at three students whom will remain nameless (Korin, Hannah, and Justin).

Famous Failures

What would have happened if these people would have listened to others that said they were failures? Where would we be in this world today if they would have given up? What kind of commitment and determination would it take to succeed when told you can do nothing but fail? Do you have that kind of commitment?

Scarred - Preparing for the Hurt in Life

The challenge of life isn’t avoiding pain (since that’s impossible). The real challenge is how to deal with pain when it happens – how to manage and heal from the wounds life inflicts on us. This series helps us recognize and deal with some of the more painful experiences in our lives. And most importantly, we’ll see how God can take our pain and use it to make beauty.
