Braves Game & Matthew West Concert

Matthew West 2009We have an exciting outing coming up soon that we hope everyone will go to. We will be going to see a Brave game and immediately following will be a Matthew West Concert. We will leave the church immediately following service to see the Braves play the Cincinnati Reds. We will be sitting field level, so the seats will be amazing for both the game and the concert. Right after the game will be the Matthew West concert. For those of you that are unfamiliar with Matthew West, he is a Contemporary Christian artist who faced a huge trial in his music career May 17, 2007. That day he underwent vocal surgery. After the surgery he was faced a season of silence and uncertainty. But, God has healed him and brought him out of this trial in his life and helped him in his weakest moment.

The price for tickets is $24. This includes travel to Atlanta and admission to the game and the concert. Food is not included, so bring money for that. We will be leaving right after morning service on September 6.  If you dont’ attend church here, then make sure you are here by 11:30AM or you could be left. We should be back to church sometime between 7 and 8 that night. See Pastor Gabe if you are interested in going. We need your money by Thursday, September 3.

Summer Camp 2009 Registration

Hello mom, dad, uncle, aunt, grandparent or anyone else who is actually considering sending someone you care about to YOUTH CAMP. Summer is nearly upon us — which means it’s time for the awesome experience of Summer Camp at Timber Lake Center! Camp is a unique mix of freedom (from regular routines), friendships (with students from all over GA), and god — all in an atmosphere that encourages spiritual growth.

This week of camp can have an incredible impact on the life of your student. It’s a great chance for students to get some alone time with God to figure out who they are and how much they need Him to guide their lives!

Thank you for your interest in camp this year, and I pray we will see your students there.

District Fine Arts Fun

To kill a little time before the Ending Ceremonies at District Fine Arts they decided to do a Youth Pastor vs. Youth Dance Competition, 4 vs. 4. And our own Youth Pastor, Matt Shirley, was selected. You can see him busting a move in the first video. Unfortunately he was not selected to make it to the final round, last video, but check it out anyways. I hope you enjoy.

Ski Trip 2009

This year the Static Student Ministries youth group took there Ski Retreat to Snowshow Ski Resort. It is situated in the Monogahela National Forest in West Virginia, near the little town of Linwood (Map). The drive up was long, too long. We finally hit snow somewhere in Virginia. Shortly after we stopped at the Ski Shop near Winterplace to pickup our skis. We were here for little over an hour before heading out for the last leg of the trip. We arrive at Snowshoe late on Thursday night. We were staying right at the mountain in the Top of the World Condos. The picture on the site above does not depict what the rooms really looked like, they were no where near that nice, but we figured who cares, we will be skiiing most of the time anyways.

Friday was our first morning of skiing, and it was brutal. The snow was really coming down and very windy. By the afternoon it cleared up for a great afternoon of skiing. Saturday was another good day of skiing, but a little less crowded. Both nights (Friday and Saturday) we had the option of riding the shuttle to the nearby mountain of Silver Creek, where we could do night skiing. The resort was very nice, with a village right in the center that had nice dinning (expensive) and nice stores (again expensive). It was a great trip, and I can’t wait to go back next year.
