This year the Static Student Ministries youth group took there Ski Retreat to Snowshow Ski Resort. It is situated in the Monogahela National Forest in West Virginia, near the little town of Linwood (Map). The drive up was long, too long. We finally hit snow somewhere in Virginia. Shortly after we stopped at the Ski Shop near Winterplace to pickup our skis. We were here for little over an hour before heading out for the last leg of the trip. We arrive at Snowshoe late on Thursday night. We were staying right at the mountain in the Top of the World Condos. The picture on the site above does not depict what the rooms really looked like, they were no where near that nice, but we figured who cares, we will be skiiing most of the time anyways.

Friday was our first morning of skiing, and it was brutal. The snow was really coming down and very windy. By the afternoon it cleared up for a great afternoon of skiing. Saturday was another good day of skiing, but a little less crowded. Both nights (Friday and Saturday) we had the option of riding the shuttle to the nearby mountain of Silver Creek, where we could do night skiing. The resort was very nice, with a village right in the center that had nice dinning (expensive) and nice stores (again expensive). It was a great trip, and I can’t wait to go back next year.
